Positive (+) part of CMOS battery deal broke off... HELP PLEASE!?
I was trying to replace the CMOS battery on one of my family's computer... and the metal positive arm/part?-deal broke off...
(SORRY FOR THE CRAPPY PICTURES!)
So,after thinking about if for a while, I figured out that I had 3 options:
1.) Solder the arm back on with a small soldering gun.
3.) Get another mother-drive completely.
2.) My main I theory was using aluminum foil and attach it to the mother-drive battery-holder.
Umm... my dad said that I shouldn't try theory 1 or 3 unless I'd know that would work... so what I'm asking basically is if they sound safe to try.

2 - replacing the motherboard or entire PC is an option, but an expensive option.
#1 - there's not enough metal left to solder to in the socket. Don't attempt this.
#3 - good idea. I'd suggest a few strands of copper wire rather than aluminum foil. If you can slip the end of the wire between the remaining metal stub in the socket and the plastic wall, you should be able to tape the wire to the new battery. It's an ugly, but cheap and effective solution. There's just a tiny trickle of current through that wire, so excellent contact isn't needed.
or, #4 - run without the battery. It's possible, especially if you leave the computer turned on.
