Massachusetts Bay colony and Massachusetts colony?
is there a difference???? i need help! im doing research but they keep calling it massachusetts bay? oh and whenever i want a map, they dont give the entire pic they only have the coastal part of the colony. so was only the coast called massachusetts bay? of the entire massachusetts called massachusetts bay colony? also if so what was the other part called? the part that touches conneticut? help!
The Massachusetts Bay Colony was actually the company that the King had given the right to settle the area of the east coast north of Long Island Sound. It primarily settled around Boston and Salem. In 1691, it was disestablished. Its lands where unified with Plymouth Colony, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, and the Province of Maine to form the Province of Massachusetts (or Massachusetts Colony)
