Need Help with Nasty Boat Floor Carpet?
I have a small fiberglass fishing boat that is carpeted. The boat has been exposed to the elements for 8+ years. I keep it docked and do not have a cover. Anyway, the floor is nasty and I do not have the coin to have the carpet redone. I need a cheap alternative. I like being barefoot while boating/fishing but it has gotten way too gross for that….. Any ideas?
You said it’s a “small” fishing boat? Go check out a home improvement store and look in the “discount” or “discontinued” areas for indoor/outdoor carpeting; there is almost always some wierd colored scraps laying around for next to nothing…(I know you said money is tight, but if usually can be bought for just a couple of bucks) Or, just keep your eyes open for indoor/outdoor scraps near homes being built, etc. (I am not advocating you steal it) All you probably need is about 50 sq feet.
Find a utility knife in your toolbox or go borrow one from your neighbor and start cutting….it’ll take you an hour.
